    Description

    The item for sale here is a used Sound Devices 442 Field Mixer. Included in the sale are the 442, four Sound Devices cables: 2 XL-2 cables (TA3 to XLR male) and 2 XL-2F cables (TA3 to XLR female), and a printed manual. A power supply is not available. This unit was purchased in 2007 and was used primarily for classical music recording. It has been stored in an air conditioned studio when not in use. The serial number is 0

    The 442 appears to be in excellent working condition, and the preamps sound great. I was unable to test everything, but all of the following are working fine: mic inputs (with and without phantom power), basic mixer functions on all four channels (gain, fader knob, pan, and filter), test tone, balanced outs (XLR and TA3), headphone out, and direct outs. I have no reason to believe there are problems with any of the untested features.
    Cosmetically it shows some definite signs use (scratches, smudges and some dings around the corners and edges), but it generally looks pretty good for its age.
