Selling a tested Seiko QT 77 quartz tester. The instrument has been tested on quartz watches with the replacement microphone. It was compared against a QT2100 and found to be accurate to about 0.01 seconds per day. The photos show two watches, an adjusted 7550 and an unadjusted 0903 on both the QT77 and the QT2100. In addition the 0903 was adjusted on the QT77 as shown in the photo.
The accuracy of the replacement mic is the same as the original mic, DM-1, no difference, as it is determined by the tester itself, not the microphone. The size is also more convenient as it can be placed inside the bracelet. It is not as sensitive as the original, so it is more sensitive to the position of the watch and more susceptible to short term variation. It is best to use headphones (or earphone) to position the watch for loudest volume. (You can hear the tick, tick pulses of the watch every second as the second hand moves. Stereo phones are fine, but you will only hear in one ear. The optimum position is with the watch coil in the middle of the mic.) The signal from some case designs is also less strong than others. There is less signal at the rear of the case, than there is through the dial. This means that you may see more short term variation in the readings using this mic.
Finally, while the DM-1 can be used to measure lcd digital watches, this mic has no such capability.
This instrument has a selection of three gate times. Just about every Seiko (and probably Citizen) quartz watch can be measured with this instrument. Some quartz watch movements require very long gate times to achieve an accurate measurement. You will need to check that your movement can be measured with this instrument.
The instrument is essential for setting up the early quartz watches that have adjustable trimmer capacitors (eg. 7548, 7550, 7549 + many other movements). The instrument is set on 4 second gate time and the adjustment made with the watch face down on the microphone (see photo of the 0903, note the position).
CONDITION
This is a used instrument in very good overall cosmetic condition. Some signs of use. Nothing that affects operation.
It has been tested for operation with quartz watches. No other tests have been done. There is a good chance it is fully working, but...not tested.
Overall not perfect, but perfectly usable for quartz watches.
Included in this listing is the QT77 itself with the microphone and power cord. It will all be carefully protected for shipping.
